about mimi

philanthropy + social responsibility

With 23 years of experience, Mimi's talent is no stranger to the road. She often makes trips to style hair at NYFW shows and holds pop-up salons at summer music festivals across the country. But glamour and glamping aside, Mimi always looks for ways to use her talents in helping instill confidence in less fortunate children. Since the opening of Shear Love in 2011, Mimi has been giving back to the community in Atlanta, as well as to organizations across the nation and causes around the world.

In the year 2017, with help from the Shear Love Atlanta community, Mimi made her way across the world to groom and teach underprivileged children about self-care. Learn more about her journey and efforts in the small rural village of Bustos, Philippines, here.

my vision + initiatives

My vision is to continue making a positive impact in the lives of underprivileged children and the less-fortunate. Our efforts focus on helping children who lack access to hair grooming and styling services.

We want to educate these children on self-care. By teaching them how to take care of themselves, we encourage self-esteem and self-expression, thereby empowering their overall state of well-being. To expand our efforts on a larger scale, we aim to collaborate with other expert hairdressers and partner with local, national, and international causes.

Mimi’s journey in the hair industry began with a strong foundation in precision haircutting, inspired by her training at Vidal Sassoon. After years of honing her craft in Los Angeles and New York—learning from top mentors at Vidal Sassoon, Arrojo, Wella, Aveda, and Davines—she returned to Atlanta to bring her expertise home.

Her career has spanned roles as an instructor at the Paul Mitchell Academy and an educator for Sebastian and Davines Professional. She also brings her artistry to music festivals, creating “glam” hair and makeup experiences that elevate the experience of guests. Rising through the ranks from creative director to entrepreneur, Mimi opened Shear Love in 2011, where she continues to educate, inspire, and advocate for an eco-conscious approach to beauty. With her work featured in  seen in the New York Times and over 23 years in the industry, Mimi remains passionate about growing her craft, education, and making a positive impact every day.
